this was a really good recipe. I used fresh green apples instead of dried, and a pressure cooker to speed things up a bit. The dumplings came out delicious and i really liked the apple flavor in this dish.

This recipe appeals to my Germanic roots. It is excellent, tastes great and is easy to make. The only thing I found out, because I had never made them before, is dumplings must be eaten at that meal and does not reheat well. Live and learn! It's nice to have recipes like this that will feed you heartily for a few days. Thanks, Emeril!

Coming originally from PA Dutch country, I wanted to find a recipe that fit with my heritage. I was not disappointed. All the flavors melded together beautifully in my dutch oven. I was pleasantly surprised.

This is a wonderful combination and so soothing. It doesn't get any better than this. Come on, we're talking; apples, ham and dumplins. Makes me homesick for home sweet home PA.
