Excellent taste and flavor combination. I used our left-over ham with bone in from Christmas (not a ham hock and it was great!

The beans were great, but there wasn't enough meat in the hocks to make a meal. I will use this as a side dish.

I added a few stalks of celery - cut in pieces, and it was EXCELLENT! Tasted like Grandma's bean soup with a lot more smokey flavor! Very good flavor and not much time or money invested. Good Southern cookin'!! As you know, PORK FAT RULES!!

I sauteed the ingredients that the recipe said, and then put everything into a slow cooker for about 9 hours. This worked perfectly! I will definitely be making this dish again, and it was nice to come home from work and have dinner ready.

I grew up in the south eating and preparing navies, but I will make it this way from now on. Wow!!

The Ham & Beans recipe was very easy to prepair; great for a cold winter day in Idaho.
Might I suggest maybe a little more red peppers.
