Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups warm water (between 110 to 115 degrees)
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1/4 ounce (1 package) yeast
  • 3 1/4 cups all-purpose flour (you may need more to achieve the smooth elasticity)
  • 2 teaspoons salt, plus more for seasoning
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons mixed chopped herbs
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan
  • Freshly ground black pepper

Directions

In a small bowl, dissolve the sugar in the warm water. Sprinkle the yeast over the mixture and let stand for 10 minutes, to bloom (it should begin to foam).

In the mixer bowl with the dough hook attached, add 3 cups of flour, salt, and yeast mixture. Slowly turn it on and work the dough together. Turn it up to medium and mix for 5 minutes. If the dough is sticky, continue mixing and gradually add the remaining flour. Place this smooth ball of dough into an oiled bowl, cover, and set aside to rise for 3 hours.

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Spread the dough out on a oiled sheet tray and press "dimples" into it with your fingertips. Drizzle with the oil, herbs, cheese, and seasonings. Bake until browned and cooked through and let cool.

    Overrated

This recipe was unbelievably SALTY! Do not add 2 teaspoon of salt. One would be fine. Also, it took a lot more flour than... listed in the ingredients. For me, it took about 30 minutes for the focaccia to be lightly browned.Read more

    Incredible!!!

This is the easiest and best recipe for focaccia bread I have ever tried. It is ten times better with fresh herbs and... cracked sea salt. Everyone loves this recipe, and whoever came up with it I would like to personally think them for making me so popular with the people I feed.Read more

    Good, but..,

I found that it took much more than three cups of flour to make this resemble any kind of bread dough. Also, there was no... cooking time in this recipe. I set the timer for 15 minutes, then checked back 3 times at 5 minutes each. I also used basil and rosemary from my garden, which worked very well.Read more

    Very easy and tasty

This was so easy to make in my Kitchen Aid - no kneading required. I topped this with rosemary and garlic. Be sure to... spread it to the recommended height, though, as mine rose a bit too much because I made it too thick.Read more
