You can create up to five timers

Ingredients

  • 1/2 pound cashews
  • 1/2 pound hot roasted peanuts
  • 2 cups pretzel nuggets
  • 8 cups waffle cereal (such as Chex)
  • 1 cup butter
  • 1/2 cup Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tablespoons Creole spice

Directions

Preheat oven to 325 degrees F. In a large bowl combine nuts, pretzels and cereal. Melt butter with Worcestershire sauce and drizzle over nut mixture; sprinkle with Creole spice. Toss to coat completely, pour onto a cookie sheet and bake until crisp and tasty, about 25 minutes.

    I have made this recipe for the last few years and like it, but it took me awhile to tweak the recipe. You have to cut the liquid in half or double the nuts,pretzels, and cereal. I usually cut the liquid in half and it tastes really good. I also add shredded wheat as well. This is a really good mix once you adjust it to your liking.

    There is way too much butter in this recipe. I followed it exactly. When the mix would not "dry out" in the oven, I spread it even thinner on the cookie sheet--still did not work. It tasted terrible. Now besides having to finish icing the cake for the party I have to make more trail mix!

    I guess this must be a love or hate recipe. My family and I happen to love it! The recipe on the back of the Chex box is too bland and lacking in flavor, where Emeril's is exploding with spicey flavor. You may be able to get away with using 1 stick of butter instead of 2, but I say just go for it all.
