This soup is delicious. I used an extra jalepeno and garlic to make up for not having any meat in it. Very easy to make, definitely a keeper since every fall the frost comes before the tomatoes turn red.

Having many green tomatoes in my garden I searched for a recipe to use them. This soup was simple to prepare and delicious. I roasted some shrimp and added it to the bottom of the bowl before ladling in the soup. My husband raved about the dish.

Never been a fan of Emeril's recipes; however, I LOVE THIS SOUP. I have tons of green tomatoes this year and was looking for something other than just fried green tomato recipes. Tried this and it is wonderful. Just the right "kick" from the peppers. Don't let the "intermediate" level stop you, it was so easy to make. Thanks, Emeril. I might just end up a fan after all.

I used all of the ingredients except the cilantro oil (forgot to buy cilantro and agree that this is very easy to make, and an exceptionally tasty, spicy soup. I live in the North, and have more green tomatoes at the end of the season than I could find uses for. This will be a regular!

I used bacon instead of pancetta, 2 jalepano & 2 anaheim peppers, and turned out great. Will definitely make again!!

This recipe definitely works well with regular jalapeno peppers instead of those called for in the recipe as well as using bacon instead of pancetta. Great tasting hot and sour style soup. I used a regular mixer to just break up the tomatoes after cooking since I didn't have a stick blender.

I made this soup exactly by the recipe for people at work and the men went home and told their wives about it, it was so great. Tonight, I doubled the recipe and used bacon instead of pancetta (it's a price thing $7.00 vs. $3.00 and I doubled the pasilla peppers (which I could only find dried and I only had 2 anaheim chiles ( I did add 2 jalapenos and it still turned out great!!!. Anyone who likes fried green tomatoes or spicy soup will love this recipe!!!!!

I had trouble finding a pasilla chili so I skipped it. It was still a very good soup. I thought it was easier than the medium rating indicated.

My other half and I are veggies so we left out the meat products, but the soup still held its ground. We just used fresh cilantro as a garnish and it was still very satisfying. Couple this soup with good bread toasted with good cheese melted on top and use it for dipping. Very Very Very GOOD. Highly recommended for all.
