canned clams don't have a whole lot of flavor to start with.
the cream chees sort of dulls that down some more. but this is easy and quick and cheap. if you want it "fishy-er" throw in a squirt of anchovy paste. a littloe mined onion zaps it up a bit.

I recently made this recipe as an appetizer for a seafood themed dinner and was pleased with the results, but don't know that I would rush to make it again. The recipe is super easy to make and can be done the night before and left overnight for all the flavors to marry together. Everyone seemed to enjoy the warm, comforting flavors of the dish, but we all agreed that it would have been made better with the addition of either fresh parsley or green onions. It's also worth noting that the clam flavor isn't very strong- not so great for clam lovers, but great for kids or people who may not be crazy about shellfish.
