Ingredients

  • 10 tablespoons (1 stick plus 2 tablespoons) unsalted butter
  • 8 ounces white chocolate pieces
  • 2 large eggs, lightly beaten
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup pecan pieces
  • 6 ounces semisweet chocolate, chopped

Directions

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Using 2 tablespoons of the butter, grease an 8-inch square baking pan.

In a metal bowl set over a pot of simmering water, melt the remaining stick of butter with the white chocolate.

In a medium bowl whisk together the eggs and sugar. Add the flour, vanilla, and salt and mix well. Fold in the pecans and the melted white chocolate.

Spread the brownie mixture in the buttered pan and sprinkle the chopped semisweet chocolate over the top. Bake until firm, for about 25 minutes. Remove from the oven and allow to cool on a rack before cutting into squares.

These brownies are delicious, easily worth a few extra minutes in the oven, if needed. The recipe is incredibly easy, yet the presentation is very unique. Cut into bars or triangles and served on a beautiful platter, they are impressive for any special occasions. I also reversed the recipe. While it is quite tasty, it doesn't have the same presentation value or unique flavor as the original. This is saved in my recipe box to be used for any occasion.

I followed the recipe as listed, except I used 12oz of white chocolate pieces (for a stronger white chocolate taste and since I have an older gas oven it took a bit longer than 25 minutes to bake. Other than that, I couldn't believe how easy this was to make!

My boyfriend always mumbles about how he doesn't like any kind of chocolate period. He was skeptical when I was making them but when they came out of the oven he ate them up and wanted me to make more :

I would recommend this recipe for anyone wanting to try a different brownie than the same old hum drum chocolate brownie.

Baked them for 25 mins, brownies came out undercooked, gooey and had strong buttery taste. :( Also had to bake them for another 15 mins. Not going to make them again.
