I have never made flan before but after looking through several recipes, this was the easiest that I could find. I have made this without the Kahlua 4-5 times and it has come out perfect every time. The consistency is smooth and creamy as long as you make sure to blend the wet ingredients completely. If you can see some egg white clumps, you have not blended enough. Those clumps will turn out rubbery and very, well, egg-white-like.

The kahlua flavor is not even evident when you eat this. I have and made a better testing flan than this.

My husband made this (by himself and used almond liquor instead of Kahlua. It turned out perfectly. Very Very good!

It took me 3 tries to get the sugar right. The first 2 times I followed Emeril's directions of low heat and not stirring. The sugar on the bottom melted and then hardened while the sugar on top stayed raw. Finally, I searched online and followed the directions from a different recipe to cook the sugar over medium HIGH while stirring constantly and it was done perfectly in 5 minutes! Everything else was super simple. The final product was well received, but my flan had lots of bubbles in it.

The best I can say for this flan was that it came out of the pan in one piece... The rest is downhill from there.. Had the same problem with the carmel hard-balling as everyone else.. Also, the consistency... Eating this flan was like eating a piece of french toast that had been sitting in the eggs & milk too long. Literally, and just like that. SUCH a disappointment. On the other hand, International Test Kitchens has a recipe for a lemon flan that is OUT of this world. I made both for this birthday party last weekend, and the difference was amazing! If you want a wonderful flan recipe, try that one out!! Avoid this one like the plague!!

This was a delicious and easy recipe. My husband made this and it was just wonderful. He's never made flan before (and neither have I and had no problems.

I might add more Kahlua next time we make this. And believe me, I will make this again!

I've made this twice in the past week. Everyone loves it! Easy to make and tastes like something you'd get in a fine restaurant!

I have to say that I've never made Flan
before because I thought it was too
difficult but I saw this recipe and I
said let me try it. I've made it about
6 times already and everytime it's
always a hit. Everyone loves it and
they say that it taste like a flan from
    an expensive restaurant.

My husband absolutely adores Flan, and I liked that the ingredients were simple. The Kaluah gave it a nice flavor. I definitely had some issues with the caramel, but outside of that, it was quite tasty and fairly easy.
