Awesome tuna melt. I left out the capers and added artichoke hearts and celery and that was just as good.

I am amazed at all the favorable ratings for something so bland and tasteless that I can only marvel at the label "kicked-up." Additionally, in the unlikely event that I ever make this again I will toast the bread first. It turned to watery mush under the broiler. Definitely a big disappointment!

Um, wouldn't it help to toast the bread first? Not sure I've ever had a tuna melt on untoasted bread. Maybe they do it that way in some parts.

And I agree with mickeyma. One tablespoon plus one teaspoon of ground pepper seems a tad excessive.

BEWARE--either the amount of pepper is off or this is incredibly spicy. I think the 1 tablespoon plus 1 teaspoon of pepper that this recipe calls for must be a typo. That being said, it wasn't bad. If I made it again, I would cut the pepper down to 1 teaspoon or so.

I made this for my family and they absolutely loved it. My sisters keep asking me for the recipe. We just cant get enough! This has become our favorite Saturday lunch and we setup the table on our deck in the backyard and have a great time.

I have always loved a tuna melt. I have tried multiple times to perfect one, but usually the tuna salad I put on the melt was either too "wet" from adding too much mayo or tasteless. This was the most amazing tuna melt I have ever had!
