I didn't have fresh lemons, so no zest for me, but these were amazing. I could eat the crust dough all day too!

If you like a strong lemon flavor, you will really like these lemon squares. We made them for a BBQ and they weren't a huge hit, because not everyone likes lemon. But people who do really enjoyed them. The only advice I have is to make sure you use heavy duty aluminum foil. We used standard (thin foil, and the foil ripped when we tried to remove the squares from the pan.

Very good and easy to make. I used cold butter from the fridge and my food processor for the crust, quick and easy. Tart and full of lemon flavor. It's a keeper!

Pretty good, for how they turned out i would have gave it 3 stars but i used a 1/4 cup too much flour in the crust so it was dry, my grater wouldnt work so i got very little zest, which woulda added nicer lemon flavor, much nicer fully set up the next day as well. There was barely enough filling to cover the crust im my 9 x 13 pan, and i did not make any mistakes with the fillng, so i will definatly double the filling next time, and not make those first two mistakes and im sure they will be a 5 star dessert!

I baked these about an hour ago and they came out soo yummy!
I remember having these for the first time at my best friends house and have been wanting to bake these for myself and excellent!! This was the easiest thing ever!
the only thing i wish i did listen to was to align the pan with the foil but its okay they all came out!! =] I am going to make these again and again.

The recipe doesn't indicate if the butter should be cold or not. I put the butter on the counter and forgot about it while doing last minute chores, maybe 15-20 minutes. The crust turned out just a bit crumbly but I didn't mind at all. It was still delicious. I will use cold butter next time. I had some limes too. So I decided to add lime zest to the filling. Then sprinkle extra lime & lemon zest on top before putting in the oven to bake. The lemon bars looked pretty with the green specks. Thanks Emeril, this is one desert I will be making often!
