emerald, you don't understand, hough's neck is the flounder capital of the world. I used ure recepe in a "chowda" contest and I came in 5th out of 12. I think people from around here like it more thick than thin

this wasnt clam chowder it was clam SOUP. It was thin like chicken soup.we waited all nite for it to thicken an it NEVER did.I will never use this recipe again as a matter a fact I am going to burn this recipe in hopes that no one will EVER use it again..I was very disappointed..........

This was my first time at making any kind of chowder. This recipe was easy to follow and tasted great. I just thought it ought to be a little thicker.

Next time I am going to add a little flower after the veggies are cooking for 1-2 min. The taste of the chowder is good, as it is a very traditional recipe, BUT it is considerably thinner than most people expect a clam chowder to be. I guess some people like it like this, but I prefer a little thicker and creamier consistency. Overall, I would recommend this recipe.

This was the easiest and best recipe for New England Clam Chowder that I have ever tried. There was little left over as we kept going back for more helpings. I used 1% milk instead of the heavy cream due to dietary restrictions, which did not distract from the taste whatsoever. Definitely a must-keep recipe in our family. Thanks Emeril!

My mom, who is a great cook and doesn't say how delicious just anything is, absolutley loved this dish. It is one of those great soups that you can have several bowls of and can still eat more! I used 1% milk instead of heavy cream and the potatoes made it even creamier. Great soup.

This was the best clam chowder i've ever made.I'd say it's one of the best i've ever had, even Mo's from Newport,Oregon! It thickened perfectly without using flour or any other thickener and the taste was incredible.

This was not as smooth as I had hoped and bit low on the creamy side and high on the clamy side
