I have been looking for an easy and simple vanilla ice cream recipe and this is definitely it! Its not too sweet and does not require a lot of time and effort and yet it tastes creamy and delicious. Definitely a winner in our house- the only thing i would do next time is add another half tsp vanilla extract because we like it stronger. I used 2 cups half and half and 2 cups 1% milk. If youre looking for a lower calorie/fat recipe then the usual ones i recommend this one!

This recipe made a really good effortless ice cream. It doesn't compare well in texture with a cooked recipe, but for something quick and easy it is much better than most of the other versions I have tried.

I took the advice of one of the viewers here, and replaced the cream with fat free Half and Half, and the whole milk with 1% low fat milk. The recipe turned out fantastic, even with the substitutions! Due to a congenital heart defect, ice cream is off limits to me because of its high fat content. Thanks to Emeril and the viewer who posted above, I can now enjoy one of my favorite desserts again. Bless you both!

I substituted fat free half and half and 1% milk equal ratios, plus used splenda. Not bad and it was excellent with a hot fudge sauce. I think my alters affected the quality of the icecream but it was still good just not creamy awesome icecream.

This ice cream is great!!! I just use half and half instead of milk and cream. Always use good vanilla extract. That makes the difference.
