I wasn't sure if it was going to be worth the trouble but after tasting this last night, I was all ready to make it again for another event. It is an expensive dessert to make so I opted to use vanilla extract instead of vanilla beans. Also, I wasn't sure about all of that port you pour on the cake so I only used about 1/4 cup. I really got confused on all of the layering and I only had enough cake for 2 layers but it was still delicious!

This was AWESOME. I made it for Christmas Eve with my in laws and everyone raved about it. There was not any left over at the end of the night. This will become a go to for special events.

This was an OK recipe even though I used very good port. Spooning it out of a large trifle bowl turned this tasty combination of flavors into a garbage bowl that looked very unappetizing. If I do another trifle, it will be as individual servings.

Emeril you did it again. I made this for a company party and a month later everybody is still raving about my great desert. It was easy to make, just takes a little time. Will be making this alot.

This came out amazing! A little time consuming, but so worth it! I used frozen raspberries and I think that worked better than fresh because the frozen ones have a lot of liquid when they thaw, which made everything so moist and yummy! I also added more Port wine than the recipe said to the raspberries, which only made them yummier. My boyfriend said that from now on I will make this trifle for every family gathering. It was hit!

Super easy! fabulous flavor! Looks super impressive. Found that using a double boiler arragement for the creme anglase made the whole process seamless.
