I wanted puttanesca, and man did I get it. Stop looking at the other versions of this sauce, and make THIS one. Emeril serves up a classic version of this great favorite.

This recipe was a breeze to make. I personally like my sauces a bit sweeter so adding a bit more tomato paste and a bit of sugar got it where I like it. Additionally, and this is more a personal preference, I would pit my own olives as the meat stays firm whereas the pitted olives can get mushy. Yes its a lot of work but worth it in my book.

This is the only word that kept being said at the table! It is one of those dishes that makes it seem like you spent the whole day in the kitchen but is rather quite easy to prepare.

I used green olives instead of calamata and a small can of anchovies (can't tase them when done. I did not add the tomato paste, but instead simmered for a few hours to thicken naturally and marry the flavors. Fantastic! Better than any restaurant.

This was quite tasty, I used canned tomatoes, omitted the onion and used dried oregano instaed of basil because those were the ingredientsI happened to have on hand. Very easy & hearty meal especially when you are out of everything and don't want to go to the store - I found all these items in my pantry.

The kids asked me to find a recipe for this sauce after the Lemony Snicket movie : I followed the recipe nearly exactly, except for using (2 14.5 oz cans of Italian style stewed tomatoes, and (2 cans of diced tomatoes since that was what was available locally. My kids were unsure about the anchovies, but there was no noticeable anchovy flavor at all, they just melted away in the sauce!
