This gumbo is excellent. We made it for Christmas Day dinner and it was a great hit. It is so easy and will make it again. Next time we might add some file' just to try something different.

It doesn't need okra to qualify as a "gumbo"! To qualify as a gumbo it needs a stock, meat, the "trinity" (onions, bell peppers, and celery and something that thickens it which is one or all of these: file, roux, OR okra. This recipe contains a stock, meat, the trinity, and a roux. So this recipe is officially a "gumbo"!

This recipe was easy and tasted great even the kids loved it till they found out it was rabbit. Now I just tell them its chicken.

This recipe is very good. Tho I don't think it really qualifies for a "gumbo" without any okra but it's still worth trying. Even my 2 year old grandson thought it was good enough for seconds.
