This is a great recipe and one that can be made ahead of time up to the eggs/heavy cream mix on top. I didn't use porcini mushrooms and just added 1/2 cup white wine for the extra liquid. Also, like an another reviewer suggested, I mixed the rice and mushrooms together and layered just the cheese. Everyone went nuts over this as a side dish with Osso Buco. A keeper!

Very rich and creamy. I served as a side to grilled lamb chops and it was a wonderful pairing. It made enough to serve at least 10. Everyone enjoyed seconds!

I took this to a large gathering, so I increased it by another half (to make 12 servings. Basically, just made more of the risotto portion and the topping. The flavor was excellent! I couldn't find porcini mushrooms in my area so I used chanterelles and they worked great. I ended up using extra chicken stock to ensure it didn't end up dry, even so it was a little drier than regular risotto after baking but still very good. I was liberal with the cheese and used nearly 2 cups. The only thing I'd do different is skip the layering of the mushrooms, I would mix them in with the risotto at the end and then layer with cheese. People didn't dig down deep enough in the casserole dish at first so they were missing the mushroom layer. I will definitely make this again! Recieved many compliments!

I love risotto and this is absolutely delicious! It's a good make ahead. I had the risotto layered so that when my company arrived, I quickly whisked the egg and cream and popped it into the oven. It turned out beautifully!

I made this recipe because it enabled me to get the work intensive part out of the way before my guests came. I liked the flavors, especially the mushrooms, but would have preferred a regular risotto to the casserole. I like it a little creamier.

Risotto is the perfect one dish meal, with this easy to follow recipe and little knowledge it is a lite compfort dish to make the whole family happy. It's also very easy to substitute veggies or even meats if you want. I make risotto often and this was one of the best.

The recipe takes a little prep, but is well worth it!!!!!. After I prepared it the first time my husband decided we needed a fresh herb garden. What FUN!!! A fantastic dish.
