I love this recipe. It really reminds me of Spain. Most sangria recipes are too sweet and don't taste authentic. This one is perfect!

Always a hit at the party! I use squirt or ginger ale in place of the sparkling water.

I used a gallon of wine and quadrupled this recipe for a family gathering and it was a huge hit! I don't like overly sweet drinks, so I thought the seltzer worked perfectly. I wouldn't sub lemon lime soda unless you are looking for a sweet drink. The only regret I have is that I wish I made it in advance so that the flavors would blend even more, but regardless everyone loved it!

Made this for a weekend in Yosemite. I made the night before and strained it over new sliced fruit in the morning. I didn't add the sparkling water at all. It was fabulous. We now have our favorite "sangria" meadow with a heavenly view.

I brought this recipe to a summer bbq, and it was gone in less than an hour even though I doubled my batch. People request me to bring it now. I have also made a white wine version using the same ingredients, and it is just as well-received.

I use a (white chardonnay instead of red and I add more apples to soak the brandy, but thisis awsome and dangerous. You drink some and think your okay, turns out your sloshed!

This was a hit 2 nights in a row at our family Thanksgiving weekend. I found its good with or without the sparkling water. Its also good with the addition of Fresca instead of water. And it definitely gets better if you let it sit in the fridge for a few hours before you serve it.

so its my first dinner party and I want to make sangria for the first time... so I review every sangria recipe on this web site... this is the one I chose... I made a good choice.... It was easy and simple and delicious. I followed the advice of some of the other reviews and only used half the recommended amount of water, only I followed Bobby Flays recipe and used Sierra Mist instead of water. Delish

It was good, however with using an entire bottle of sparkling water, next time I'm going to use a stronger red wine.
