Very very good, but greasy. If you have an 'I don't care how many calories I eat' meal, then go for it!

YUM! Very very good! Was never a big scalloped potato fan-I am now! Used bacon, sharp cheddar cheese and based on other reviews-only 1 1/2 cups of 1/2 and 1/2. Did not use the swiss chard-the best part was all of the crispy crunchy stuff on top.

My son made these for Thanksgiving dinner 3 years ago and we've made them every year ever since. It's the most anticipated dish; even more than the turkey itself! Everyone loves these, they are AMAZING!!!

I loved these potatoes. Lots of flavor from all over the place. I didn't bother making the Essence seasoning. I just sprinkled all of the types of seasonings that go in the Essence seasoning on each layer of the potatoes. I used bacon and one onion (b/c that's all I had and just sauteed it until tender. Next time I will definitely only add 1 1/2 cup of heavy cream because it didn't absorb all the way, and might even boil then simmer it to thicken it up. I also added 1/2 cup of cheese to each layer (3 layers total and another 1/2 cup of cheese to the top and used sharp cheddar cheese. so good and a great alternative to other potato dishes. Will make again and again!

I made these for Easter and they were a home run! One of my guests told me he doesn't normally like scalloped potatoes, but thought these were delicious. The only thing I would change next time is to not add the Swiss chard. It didn't add anything to the flavor or texture of the dish. I used prosciutto instead of Pancetta or bacon, and it was great. I would probably also save money and use Swiss cheese instead of gruyere since the taste of the cheese is not too strong between the garlic, onion and thyme. I will definitely come back to this recipe again!

Our Easter dinner is over and Emeril's scalloped potatoes and onions were the hit of the meal. It was the first time I tried making them and I will make them again. We all loved them. I will use a little less heavy cream the next time. The potatoes were done but some of thecream wasn't absorbed. All in all, though, they were great.
