Excellent soup. I served at a progressive dinner party and those picky, 'don't like onions' people liked it. Even a 3 year old ate more than 1 bowl!

Tasty soup, especially with the garlic bread. It would be nice if they used weight instead of volume for the onions. How much is a cup and a half of sliced onions? Tough to measure, especially when one slice of onion can be bigger than a measuring cup.

I make this every Thanksgiving dinner. Everyone loves it! I only make it at Thanksgiving because its more of a specialty then. A few adjustments that I made due to vegetarians at dinner was using turkey bacon instead of real bacon and making homemade croutons to add to individual bowls instead of the bread. Its the best soup ever

it was delicious! i used whole milk instead of whipping cream to cut down on calories. garlic bread was also tasty! i personally like garlic so i doubled up on the garlic and halfed the amount of butter. it was still delicious!

i did use the immersion blender at the end, but i think this soup would have been fine without blending it.

Delicious! I never had onion soup prior to this, and now I just salivate thinking about this recipe. It was easy to make, and I ate all of the leftovers. Great recipe for a cold day.

Positively the best soup I have ever eaten. Need no adjustments!! This has been a staple on our dinner table ever since, and there are never any leftovers!! I only wish I had found this sooner when my wife was pregnant and wanted nothing but onion.
