I made just the waffles from this recipe. I think--and my son agrees--that these are some of the best tasting waffles I've ever had!! Very easy to make--great tasting!! I hated to add syrup or anything to cover the taste. I've added this one to MY recipe book...

We've actually only made the waffles, but they are fabulous. Light, fluffy, with a quality usually only found at a restaurant!

Learned here that whipping up the egg whites is a clever way to disguise an amateur effort and sifting the flour is now standard practice for making waffles. In carb-crazy world, try using whole wheat flour. Sifting it has decent results.
