Ingredients

  • 2 pounds ground turkey, 85/15 blend
  • 1/2 cup minced red onion
  • 1/4 cup minced green onion, (about 1 scallion)
  • 1 or 2 serrano peppers, minced, to taste
  • 2 egg whites
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons Emeril's Southwestern Essence
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 cup grated Cheddar
  • 12 mini burger buns or small soft dinner rolls, warmed in oven
  • 12 small lettuce leaves
  • 12 slices tomato
  • 1 cup thinly sliced red onions
  • 1 avocado, thinly sliced
  • Mayonnaise, mustard and ketchup, optional

Directions

Preheat the grill to medium-high heat.

In a large bowl, combine ground turkey with minced red onion, green onion, peppers, egg whites, Essence, cumin and Worcestershire sauce. Divide the turkey into 12 equal portions and, using your hands, shape into 12 small burgers about 3 1/2-inches wide.

Place the burgers on the grill and cook until turkey is done and a thermometer inserted into the center registers 165 degrees F, about 3 minutes per side.

Serve the burgers with cheese on the mini buns with lettuce, tomato, thinly sliced red onions and avocado, garnished with mayonnaise, mustard, and ketchup to your liking.

    Best Turkey Burger Ever!

Rated: 5 stars out of 5
It's just my husband and I so we don't make sliders. We make full size burgers out of half the recipe. We cook them using... our inside grill and they come out perfect every time! We love the recipe and it keeps us eating healthier.Read more

My husband doesn't like ground turkey, but he loved these. Another great recipe from Emeril! We didn't have any pablano... peppers so we just did without and they were still good.Read more

    Loved the mini format

I loved the small size of these burgers for serving as apps in front of the tv (only for sunday night football : ) , and I... think they stayed more moist at that size. I kicked up the seasoning a bit since I only had 1.25 lbs of turkey meat and that was fine. I subbed shallot for red onion and jalapeno for the seranos. Also did not use buns and for topping served guac, cilantro, and trader joe's tomatoe chutney which was actually the perfect touch. Read more

I made these for a cocktail party (borrowed Bobby Flay's chipotle mayonnaise recipe) and they were a big hit. Tended to stick... to my grill - next time will oil the grill surface. Added cheese to the turkey mix to incorporate the flavors more.Read more
