You can create up to five timers

Ingredients

  • 2 pounds ahi, diced
  • 1/2 cup minced onion
  • 1/2 cup chopped green onion
  • 1 cup crabmeat
  • Aloha Shoyu, to taste
  • 1 bottle shichimi pepper, to taste
  • Sambal, to taste
  • Sesame oil, to taste
  • 1 1/2 cups mayonnaise
  • Taro rolls (recommended: Ani's Bakery)
  • Micro greens, for garnish, optional

Directions

In a mixing bowl, combine ahi, onion, green onion and crabmeat with shoyu, shichimi, sambal, to taste, and sesame oil. Fold in mayonnaise and mix until combined well. Chill mixture until ready to use.

To serve, place poke mixture in taro roll topped with micro greens of your choice.

    We spend a lot of time in Hawaii, and love poke. Each restaurant makes their own style, and it is eaten an any meal. You can even find it at the farmer's markets in the islands. What a treat. This version of poke makes me think of the islands, and adding the crabmeat gives a sweet taste to balance the spiciness. Make sure you use sushi-grade tuna.

    For those having trouble finding the ingredients, Aloha Shoyu is soy sauce, a little milder than the regular Kikkoman version. Some markets carry it in the Asian food section, but you can substitute low sodium version. For the Shichimi and Sambal, these can also be found in the Asian food section, look for Shichimi Togarashi and chili paste, respectively.
    The buns are more difficult to find, but you can substitute any dense, not real sweet roll, or for a different taste, use hawaiian bread (slightly sweet also found in the bread section of many markets.

    Besides locating ingredients how about what they are!!! He's great, but sometimes I get left behind. What ashame, watching was mouthwatering.
    I too would do mail order, but first I need to watch again, again, again. (^c^

    If anyone knows where to find sichimi peppers,Aloha Shoyu, Sambal, and Ani's Bakery please post on this site. I live IN New Jersey And I would Love to Make This Recipe. Will do mail order.
