Very Delicious and Simple! I even added carrots, peas, and Italian Sausage to make it a little more hearty and it came out great. My boyfriend was impressed and loved it!

This is the best Split Pea Soup. I used the chicken and the vegetable stock for this recipe. My family really enjoys and it's a
    great soup for the winter.

Amazingly easy and tasty. I also added carrots and celery ... not necessary, but a nice addition. All the folks adding ham got me craving the pork addition. I had no ham, so I cooked some bacon until crispy and crumbled it on top of the soup bowls at the table. Ummmm YUMMMM!

As a hot sauce lover, the addition was amazing! I would of enjoyed adding ham into the mix but this works great on a budget. Very tasty.

Cooking your Split pea soup in a CROCK POT. The house smells soo good. I try to cook it with Ham bone or Ham hock. I always use a emerson blender, I want my soup smooth & creamy. I blend the soup, then I add a grated carrot, for color, a diced ham steak the last hour of cooking. I don't use much salt, fresh ground pepper, garlic to taste and basil, some times a little liquid smoke. Keep it simple and remember your crock pot.

It is difficult to believe that a recipe so simple can produce a soup so delicious. I've been making this soup for about two years, and I'm not comfortable when there is none of it in the freezer.

This was so simple and dedelicious! My husband and I love this recipe. Please note it says to "simmer" on MEDIUM heat for 45 min - if you simmer it on low heat it will take you quite some time to get the peas cooked. Thank you Emeril for a fantastic yummy recipe!
