This was a fast and healthy dinner solution! Both my hubby and myself have never made split-pea soup and we were really impressed! I added a little carrot, ham and celery after reading the reviews. I definitely recommend grill cheeses with this---it makes it a yummy meal! The only reason I didn't give it a 5 is that I have nothing to compare it to and the texture was good but the faintest bit grainy...maybe that's my error. Will make again! And I plan to try another recipe to really be able to compare. Definite comfort food, though!

The prep time for this soup is so quick that besides the time it takes to let it simmer, it's a snap to make. Good for what it is, and great with a grilled cheese sandwich

My husband loves pea soup and this passed the test. Added ham for the texture and flavor.

This is Anderson's Pea Soup from Calif. all over! I use to go there as a kid and have fond memories. I made this and it was like a time machine backwards. This is easy and worth making! Nice job, Emeril. I also served with the fried pies as advertised, but I used chicken instead of the Kangaroo. Just a cultural thing I guess. It was a terrific match.

this is the most amazing split pea soup recipe you'll ever try!! I add some celery and carrots along with the onion, and i also put in some ham, everyone loves this recipe and it's so easy. another hint- i always substitute nonfat evaporated milk for the milk to make it more healthy

This is probably as good as split-pea soup gets. The only reason why I docked it a star is that I too thought the magical touch of ham was needed to bring the whole thing together.
Try it! It's yummy and inexpensive.
