I have never made Tortilla Soup but I've eaten it many times. This soup was great! My husband and kids are picky eaters and they loved this. I used chicken stock and grilled chicken breast fajita meat. I will absolutely make this again, soon.
    Great job Emeril!

A time-consuming recipe, but worth it, as the flavor is wonderful. I made the chicken stock the day before--skimmed off fat prior to using. Did not make tortillas but purchased them--followed recipe for frying them--came out well. I really like the soup, even without the chicken. I will definitely make this recipe again. Thank you, Emeril!

I make the soup using pre-made chicken stock and diced chicken breast, which makes the recipe go much quicker.

Emeril does it again-that is makes a wonderful meal! We love this soup. Usually I make the stock the day before we are going to eat it, then debone and finish the soup the next day. (It helps to break up the effort. What we don't eat I bag and place in the freezer for lunches-yum!!

very time consuming, but well worth it. i make it on special occasions. i skip the whole tortilla part and serve with tortilla chips. i also add a can of whole kernal corn the last five minutes of cooking.

I serve with cheese and avacados at the end. Another site user suggested adding a boullion cube and it made it spicy and even more delicious!

Soup was very good. However it took a LONG time to make. Too long. Next time I believe I will just go buy a roasted chicken at the store and use some good chicken stock.

This is a GREAT recipe! I've used it many times and everyone loves it. I've made it exactly like the recipe with wonderful results, but I often make shortcuts (like tortilla chips, canned chicken broth and canned tomatoes & chilies and it is equally good. Enjoy!
