  Yum! I love twice baked potatoes and this casserole has all the flavors with slightly less work. I made this during the holodays and it went great with ham. I made one vegetarian and one bacon filled and the vegetarian one got a little crispier because it was thinner....very tasty if you like it that way use a larger casserole dish and make a thinner leayer.

  We loved this recipe! I made it for a dinner party and it was a big hit. Much easier than making twice baked potatoes, but you still get all of the great flavors. The leftovers reheated great, too. This will be a "go to" recipe for potlucks and dinner parties.

  I love potatoes and just about any potato recipe. I also love twice baked potatoes so when I found this recipe, I couldn't wait to make it. I was disappointed though...I think the reason I didn't like it was because of the onions - once baked into the casserole, I felt like the only thing I could taste was onion...I don't necessarily like the taste of cooked green onion either - I prefer it raw and fresh. I will try this recipe again but next time I will omit the onion - perhaps I will simply top the casserole with fresh green onion before serving.

  Everyone loved this potato dish. It was easy to make. I left out the bacon, reduced the eggs to 2, and used fat free sour cream and half and half. It was wonderful. I still used high quality, full fat, cheeses because I don't like the texture of low fat cheese. I baked it in a deep, round pyrex dish instead of the pan, which I thought looked nicer and stayed hotter because of the depth. I will make this great recipe again and again.

  My mother saw this recipe and made it for Christmas dinner and we all loved it! It really does re-heat with no change in taste. I made it just last weekend for a church potluck and everyone asked for the recipe. It is well worth all the prep time.

  Made this for Thanksgiving side dish. It was absolutely delicious. Didn't change a thing. Had leftovers and this reheated well, with no change to the taste. Will definately make this again. Yes, it's high in carbs and calories, but I knew that when I was making it. Sometimes you have to splurge. Looking forward to making this again for my Valentines dinner. I would rather spend alone time eating a delicious meal that I made then spend time in some crouded restaurant.

  A Holiday Staple

  My family can't resist this one! I've made it for Christmas Eve 2 years in a row and it will continue to be part of our holiday tradition. I didn't change one thing. I'll admit it takes some time to put it all together but the result is heavenly! I prepared the casserole the night before and removed from the refrigerator early in the day to allow it to reach room temperature. Baked as directed and it was perfect. I will save this one for every special occasion! Thanks!

  I made this for a Christmas potluck dinner. It was amazing. I was hoping that I would have left overs for the next day, but nothing. I have to say this dish is a hit... If you want to impress, this will be the one to make. : )

  I have been making this for a few months and it just never gets old... My husband is just so excited everytime I make it!!! I started taking it to b'day partys and it is ALWAYS a hit and never any wasted left overs! Its great the next day for lunch and my 1 year old can never get enough! Sometimes to save time I will bake the first half the day before and refrigerate until 40 minutes before serving the next da.. pop it in the oven and bam... It dosn't come out funky at alllll. Everyone actually says its better!!! TRY IT you will not be disapointed

  Made this for Christmas dinner and was a huge hit, everyone loved it and insists that becomes a staple at future family gatherings. I followed the recipe exactly but was a little concerned that the crispy bacon would be too crunchy...it wasn't. Made the night before, refridgerated and took out about an hour before cooking.

  I made this for the first time yesterday at Christmas. It was a hit! The for the most part I made the recipe as indicated except instead of the black pepper and salt amounts I put the same amount the recipe called for of both with something called "House Seasonings" which I had to make for the green bean casserole I also made-- it was 1 cup salt, 1/4 cup garlic powder and 1/4 cup black/white pepper mixed together (and that was only because I ran out of black pepper and still had white pepper). As you can see the recipe made way more than I would need for the green bean casserole and I thought it might work with this casserole as well -- and it did. So well in fact that my mother wants it for her birthday dinner now!

  I used half baked potatoes and half left over mashed potatoes that I froze from Thanksgiving...I will say that the left over mashed potatoes were a little watery which is my fault but despite that this recipe was incredible!!! I used a little more white cheddar and more mild cheddar because we love our cheese! I wouldn't change a thing and everyone loved them...even my one year old who has pneumonia and I can't get her to eat anything ate these!! They are the best potatoes!! Very good for a special occasion or holiday!

  This dish is a one pan meal. Rich and very filling. Great to do ahead of time. Always a hit with my carb and fat loving family. Be warned, you will be full.

  You can taste the guilt as you eat this casserole. Too much fat and carbs for one dish. Sometimes it is fine to eat this badly but the taste just isn't worth it.
