I used this recipe for my son's wedding cake. It's very tasty but a little dry and heavy. A friend (97 years old suggested substituting 1 cup of pudding powder for 1 cup of the flour. I used white chocolate pudding powder. The result was amazing!

I haven't tried the cake, but the recipe for the buttermilk ice milk is wonderful. So great when you have to buy a large container of buttermilk for a recipe but have lots left over. Very refreshing after a big meal. I garnished with a few lemon curls -- lovely.

I made this for my brother's birthday and my whole family loved it. My dad said it was the best cake he ever tasted. I used buttercream icing instead of serving it with the berries and it made it even better. It's a great recipe!

This cake had a good subtle white chocolate flavor. I doubled the recipe, and my cake wasn't as moist as I usually like. I will try again, not doubling to see if that helps.

This cake was wonderful. I baked this cake for my husband's birthday, because he wanted a chocolate cake with strawberries. This was the only recipe that I saw that came close that was somewhat easy to make. The cake was very moist and I soaked blueberries, black raspberries and strawberries overnight in the orange liquor. However, I did not make the ice milk; I substituted it with vanilla ice cream instead. I will definitely make this cake again.

Just perfect - the rich moist cake, fresh berries and tangy ice milk - what more could you ask for?

This is an amazing dessert especially with all the fresh fruit now in season.
All my guests enjoyed it and had second servings.
