Fragrant! Opt out the flaked coconut as we don't fancy. 2 cups of nut mixtures - we love walnuts, almonds and sunflower seeds. Add mixed dried fruits, that is, cranberries, sultana and black raisins.

I have been using this recipe for a long time. I have varied the ingredients using different nuts, seeds, and dried fruits, but the basic mixture of oats and honey is the same. My family enjoys it and I have used the granola as Christmas gifts to family and friends. It's made such a big hit that a neighbor asked me if I was going to make that granola for them again! It really is a good combination of flavors with all the nuts and dried fruit. I know it may seem like a lot of calories with dried fruit and butter in the mix, but we only use it as a topping on other dried cereal. Just a suggestion for people who are concerned about the richness.

I was given the name of this recipe by a friend who adores it. But, after reading the recipe, I'm pretty appalled at the high calorie count and the inclusion of butter in the ingredients list. Butter? Really? It's recipes like this that drive me crazy. People think granola equals healthy. Not so. I'm going to have to take this recipe and do some serious amending before I can make it work for me.

I have made this recipe lots of times and given the recipe away to lots of friends. My only alteration is that I double the oats. Great granola!

I have been in search of the best granola recipe and this one is definitely close... I tried Alton's also and it was good, but too sweet. The only thing I don't like about this recipe is the amount of butter, but perhaps that's what makes it tastes so good :

My family of 7 loves this (minus the 5 year old who gags if he even sees a raisin. It is not too heavy and is very tasty. I always double the recipe - otherwise it's gone in one day.

This is such a delicious granola recipe . . . and can be adapted so easily. For example, I didn't have raisins and blueberries, but instead used diced dried figs . . . and it was delicious. And the little butter and salt . . . couldn't be better. Try using extra thick oatmeal flakes!

I already have 2 tried and true granola recipes because I am a huge fan, but I just tried this one and darn it I love it too! To me granola is finger food but this one just screams for a bowl, milk and a spoon. I'll jump on the "too salty" bandwagon - next time I'll probably just throw in a pinch. Mine had almonds, walnuts, sunflower and pumpkin seeds and dried cranberries. Suoer easy to make and my 2 little boys helped too. My 2.5 year old gobbled it up when I put a handful in his yogurt today. For easy storage and cleanup, I covered the baking sheet with parchment paper and when the granola cooled I just pulled up the edges and poured the whole batch into a ziptop bag.
Gonna have to pick up more nuts tomorrow and make more because batch #1 is almost gone already!

when I think of granola, I think of the chunks. this granola did not clump together really at all. also, it wasn't as sweet as I had hoped. other than that, it was very good.
