- 2 tablespoons currants
- 2 tablespoons pignoli (pine nuts)
- 1 lemon
- 1 orange, whole
- 1 cup bread crumbs
- 1 cup olive oil
- 12 to 16 fresh whole sardines, cleaned, scaled, rinsed, dried and butterflied
Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F.
Combine first 6 ingredients to make a stuffing. Stuff sardines, layer in oven proof dish and bake for 10 to 15 minutes.
