This is the best freaking apple pie I have ever had. We have not used another recipe since trying this one. If you have not tried this recipe you are missing out on life itself.

I make this every year around Chrismas/Thanksgiving. Last year I made it for work potluck and everyone loved it so much, my coworkers asked to pay me to make it for them! Huge hit every year!

One word...Amazing! I don't like apple pies. I made this recipe for Thanksgiving because everyone else likes it. However, we all agreed this was the best appple pie. I took a few shortcuts. I used an already-made crust and used a butterscotch caramel sauce that I drizzled on as soon as the pie came out of the oven. I nixed the whip cream topping as per other reviews. When it cooled, the sauce made it sort of crispy-always a good thing!

This pie is outstanding, tastes a lot like my Grandmothers. Simple flavors, no over the top flavors that take away from the flavor of the apples. The crust is also outstanding; it will become my standard recipe for pie crust. Other than peeling and coring and slicing the apples it is very easy to make. Had my boss over for dinner and I took a chance making something without testing it first but it was a winner. I also skipped the Caramel Cream and went with homemade vanilla ice cream. The butterscotch caramel topping is not only good on the pie but the ice cream too.

This pie is to die for, even the "I don't care for apple pie" people will Love, Love Love this pie! I have made this several times, I have used the crust recipe provided, and a couple of others, I have used several kinds of apples, and have found that any kind works. (If you are new to baking, don't use Red or Golden Delicious for pies, they are too juicy and turn to mush. What makes the pie over the top is the Carmel and the crumb topping in the pie... really it should be illegal =o LIke another reviewer I use the Mrs. Richarson's Butterscotch Carmel sauce. The only change I am going to make this time is to the Whipped Cream Recipe, I am going to try only putting the Carmel Sauce for the sweetener, I'm not sure it needs the extra sugar. Happy Holidays everybody!

It guilts me to title this review "best apple pie I've ever had". My mother & grandmother make phenomenal apple pies, with amazing crust. But this is hard to beat. It's relatively easy.

The pie crust is extremely flaky and compliments the caramel sauce. As does the topping. The topping isn't too sweet, but isn't as crunchy as I thought it'd be.

The caramel whipped cream is a bit much, so I only added a small bit to my slice. I would probably not make the cream the next time, as it's too much sugar and fat for me in one sitting.

The recipe suggests you let the pie cool fully, but we ate ours warm/hot and it only made it better.

The recipe also mentions using 6 - 8 apples. I used 4 sort of large Granny Smith apples, and that was too many. Some of the apples weren't cooked all the way through at the top, so next time I would definitely only use 3.

We had planned on sharing a few slices with the neighbors, but my husband and I ended up consuming the entire pie ourselves over the course of 3 days. Delicious, and plan on making again for a Halloween party this weekend.
