This stew was delicious and not difficult to make. I did modify the recipe by using half the beans and removing the oil to reduce the calorie count. The end product was fabulous. My wife and I both thoroughly enjoyed it and I am sure will make it again.

Wonderful stew, hearty and delicious. This recipe is now a regular part of the winter menu at home. Try adding a dash of cinnamon, this will help counteract the unpleasant lamb smell that some people don't like.

this is a fantastic dish, but be prepared to spend time on it. variations are also great. stick to it the first time. again i am very happy with how it came out. FYI, use a large baking dish. this recipe comes out huge.

I made this for a church supper. They wanted something other than chili or veg. soup (other people were making those
Everyone loved it. One of the older ladies told my mom that it was spicier than what she's used to.

We raise sheep, so from my experience with cooking lamb, I cut all of the fat off of the meat that I could. That's what gives it the flavor that some people don't like. We used a shoulder roast, cause that's what we had in the freezer. I'd use something with less bones because it took me FOREVER to cut up the lamb.

This was my first attempt to cook with lamb and after 2 years, its still my best lamb dish. Kids eat it and love it. The broth is very complex in flavor, which is well balanced with the pototoes and beans. I have made this at least 5 times, sometimes spicy, sometimes not. If its not spicy (watch the essence, then it has a nice sweet flavor. Otherwise, its a complex, sweet and spicy dish with lamb. great recipe.
