    well this is the easiest pie ive ever made, so far, visually, the pie is absolutely PERFECT, the real test will be tomorrow when i take it to my aunts house for for Thanks Giving dinner for my cousins and family to try = then ill be making another one for sunday for my Thanksgiving dinner for my grandparents to try =

    This is the first chocolate meringue pie that I've made that actually set. We usually use skim milk but this time I bought a little thing of whole milk and it turned out great. The crust was delicious (another thing I was worried about and the pie flavor was great-i even used Splenda and it turned out great. The only thing I have to complain about is the meringue. I put it on and it sat over night-the next morning it was liquid...I followed the directions exactly with the exception of the splenda...Worth a try though, everyone still loved it we just used whipped cream on top instead.

    Awesome. Everyone loves the pie. The meringue was weepy, the pie was wonderful. We can overlook weepy meringue.

    I read a ton about making a meringue before attempting this pie. Apparently you can have many issues with meringue. I choose to make a special meringue that helped me avoid it weeping, shrinking or beading and it was fabulous. I thought it might affect the taste to use the cornstarch mixture, but it didn't at all. ALSO, DO NOT CHILL the filling before you put the meringue on, if you do it causes more problems as well. here is all the info I found http://www.baking911.com/howto/meringues.htm#Cornstarch%20Mixture:
    The     filing was great great great. I will be making this pie many many more times.

    I'm not sure what I did wrong - other than I used nonfoat milk, as that's what we use. Didn't set at all - even after baking.

    This recipe is very easy and I love it...I have been looking for a recipe like my Granny used to make and this is the closest I have found so far. You can't mess it up and I love that too.
