Not a reinvention of the wheel, but who needs to with a comfort food such as bread pudding. A fantastic creative twist that makes it truly killer!!!

I have made this pudding - but had to make just 1/2 recipe and believe me it is DELICIOUS !!!!!! I did add a litte extra milk to get it moister, but would make it again without a doubt. I give it a 5 star rating . Barbara

I love bread pudding and I have had many different bread puddings from all over, but this one IS by far the GREATEST I've ever had or made. My family couldn't believe I made something so DELICIOUS and AMAZING.

I made bread pudding twice with this recipe and each time it was a hit. Everyone that tries it loves it. I like to modify the recipe slightly to make it less sweet... I use slightly less sugar and less raisins... this is just a preference and I think the original recipe is just as good.

I made this for my five year-old twins before I went to work. I thirded (not a real word but you get the point it and used rum flavoring with a little extra liquid to compensate. I also used honey wheat and Cuban bread instead of the French. It was what I had on hand; leftover bread from King Arthur's site which is the best for bread recipes. They loved it and asked why I can't get up early EVERY morning to make them breakfast! Not likely!!! This will go in my personal cookbook...

Although I'm a California girl, my people are from the South and I grew up on my grandmother's bread pudding and this recipe is running a very close second to grandmas! Excellent taste, very easy to follow recipe, and the rum sauce was yummmy! Kind of a lot of prep time, but it was well worth it. I can't wait to make this for Thanksgiving.

I've made this recipe 3 times and it's a hit every time. I've made it with homemade Hawaiian Bread and even the King Hawaiian Rolls you can buy at the grocery and it comes out great. There's never been any left at the parties I've served it at. One of the best Bread Pudding Recipes you could ever find.

This was a wonderful bread pudding. First time I ever made bread pudding homemade. Kept to the recipe except for the raisins, decreased to 3/4 cup and added chopped pecans. Also used Italian whole grain french bread and regular french bread. My bread did not get stale fast enough, so I put it in oven and it made it very cruchy. Soaked the bread in the liquid mixture overnight. Was not able to wait until dinner to taste. My husband, son and I had some early and stated that is was delicious. I did not make the sauce in the recipe. I was a little afraid it would be to much sugar and rum for my taste. I did a vanilla sugar free cook and serve pudding and added the rum to that. Wonderful comments from my family.

This recipe could be improved by specifying the quantity of bread to use - ie, 6 cups, etc. - rather than specifying 1 1/2 loaves since not all French or Italian bread loaves are the same size. In making this for the first time, it turned out good but not great - since I used too much bread, it was a little crusty in places. But I will make it again now that I know how much bread to use. It is an easy and inexpensive recipe to make.
