I normally do not have a problem following recipes, but this one was messy and they did not come out like they did on tv. The chocolate was very hard to roll as it did not set well. I will continue to make her recipes but not this one.

I am a college girl new to cooking and I can say that the recipe was not too difficult. The cookies didn't fall apart for me as others have mentioned before. The chocolate middle part is the best part-great chewy consistancy, which was delicious. The sugar cookie outside wasn't that great--I would make your own dough instead of store bought.

The recipe is time consuming and really messy (as others have said. If you want to make them I suggest really coating them with sugar before putting them on the making sheet to make sure that they won't fall apart. Good luck!

I LOVED these cookies. My 4 yr old daughter and I saw the episode and had to make them ourselves. We used ghiradelli bittersweet chips, pilsbury dough (really cold, and had a geat time. I would make them a little smaller next time as the recommended size ended up much larger than on the show. As someone else said, let them cool on the pan before transfering to a wire rack so they don't separate. She rolled the dough, I rolled the chocolate(yum and had fun. You do have to press the dough into itself and the center ball a little to make it stick.

Let me preface this by saying I am " well seasoned" in the kitchen and can tackle some difficult recipes. Even though I read the reviews (and one would think by now that I would learn to listen to your advice I went ahead with the recipe; I followed the recipe. It was a disaster. I had to make the chocolate ganache twice as it didn't set up after the first try. The second time it wasn't much better but I proceeded anyway since I had lots of money tied up in the chocolate. I threw it all away, including the one pan of cookies I attempted to bake. Giada, I love your show and own all of your cookbooks but this one missed the boat entirely. If you were aiming to make baking easier for the beginning baker you chose the wrong recipe on which to start them. I wasted a lot of time and a lot of money on what I thought would be a fun and easy recipe to make. I was so wrong and very disappointed in this recipe.

These cookies looked so incredibly easy to make and yummy, but it was quite the opposite for me. Had a hard time making these cookies, even after reading reviews and following their tips. I didn't think they tasted very good at all, in fact I through them all away! My husband thought they were really bad as well!

    1. Expect the chocolate rolling to be messy! (But fun to clean up!
    2. Freeze the sugar cookie dough if you are using store bought refrigerated rolls. I froze mine for about 15 minutes before I started my SECOND batch and the outcome was much better. (First batch of sugar cookie dough was very hard to work with as it kept falling apart
    3. Be sure to roll the finished "Saturn shaped" cookie in sugar before you press. If the cookie sticks to the bottom of the glass, use a spatula to carefully unstick.
    4. 15 minutes was too long for my oven. I found that 12 minutes made a perfect cookie.

I usually love Giada's recipes but this one stunk! The chocolate melted out over the cookie pan, wouldn't set up no matter how long I kept it on the pan to cool and was just awful to work with. I read all the reviews before I tried it, even kept the chocolate in the fridge until I needed it. I tried following the recipe exactly - terrible. I tried making the cookies into a ball then pressing an indent for the chocolate - messy! I threw the whole batch in the trash. Sorry, Giada, this one just didn't work out for me. I will continue to try Giada's recipes - usually they are truly delicious - just not this one at least not for me.

These were so easy to make and absolutely delicious. They were a huge hit at my family party. I used a sugar cookie mix b/c that is what was in the house, and had no problems with crumbling or anything. They were a little messy to make, but fun. These would be a great way to include children in the kitchen!

These cookies were easy to make, but I had the problem of the chocolate middle falling out after putting the first batch on a cooling rack. I just sealed the sugar cookie on the bottom and problem solved! Next time I'll just press the chocolate ball onto a solid sugar cookie round for baking & there shouldn't be any problem with the pieces separating. I like my cookies soft too, so I shortened the baking time by about 3 minutes.
