i am baking these cookies as i type. I used semi chocolate, not a fan of dark chocolate. you must let them cool on pan after baking about 10 min before transferring to a rack or the chocolate will separate from the sugar cookie. enjoy.

These cookies were so great. Use your favorite roll of sugar cookie dough, not a dry mix, and make sure that you firmly press the dough around the balls of chocolate, and cool them on a WIRE RACK. Everyone loved them, and I had no problem with them staying together.
PS. Of course she can make a simple cookie dough, but the theme of the episode was COOKING FOR BEGINNERS, thus the recipe calls for a roll of packages sugar cookie dough to make it as simple as possible.

These cookies were pretty easy to make, the only slightly difficult thing was rolling the chocolate into balls without making a huge mess. However, all the mess is so worth it, the cookies are amazingly good! I used splenda instead of sugar to coat the cookies in and it tastes great that way :

This was a very messy cookie to make, and the sugar cookie dough was very hard to handle. The cookies weren't a hit at my house. We had leftover cookies that no one would eat.

I really loved this recipe and it was loved by everyone. I didn't have any problems with crumbling cookies--I just made sure to let them cool sufficiently. And I put the chocolate balls in the fridge while I prepped the sugar cookie part. Worked well.

They tasted very good, but like other reviewer have stated, they do not stay together even when cooled. It would work better, and I'll try it next time, to make the dough into a ball and thumb print them. Then put the chocolate on top, sugar it, and smash it. I think cookie needs to be under the chocolate.

try the recipe and it came out great. Once the dough wrap the chocolate ball tight, it should stay on once you press it down flat. Other than that, it's really simple to make. It's great for office party.

A Le Cordon Bleu cooking school graduate, specializing in pastry, no less, using store-bought sugar cookie dough? C'mon, Giada, how hard would it have been to make a basic home-made dough?
