AMAZING! I didn't find them dense...just perfect consistency and not super crumbly or airy like some cupcakes. Topped them with a whipped vanilla buttercream because they're pretty chocolatey on their own. They also got a nice firm top as opposed to some cupcakes which just get sticky once they sit out.

Made these in the past for family and everyone was happy - easy to pull together. Super delicious and elegant. I'm about to whip up another batch for an informal dinner with friends. Cupcakes make the party-- right? Definitely give this recipe a try. It's a keeper.

So good you can't stop at just one. They are delicious and full of chocolate flavor.Oh, and the ganache is so smooth and rich. This recipe is a do-over for sure. On my way to make the next batch.

This is a great chocolate cupcake recipe. I didn't have mascarpone cheese so I had to use cream cheese. Still turned out great. And I used a small package of instant chocolate pudding as one reviewer suggested. They were moist and extremely chocolaty. The cupcakes were more dense than a regular cupcake but that could be b/c I didn't use mascarpone. Didn't get to try out the ganache. Definitely will try again w/ mascarpone and the ganache.

Awesome. Moist, chocolaty sensation. These cakes are a chocolate explosion. Since the recipe yields 24 - I crushed some walnuts and topped off 8 of the batch, and added a few strawberry slices to another 6 to add a bit more variety for the family/friends. I don't think there will be anymore left before tomorrow's football game - Steelers vs. Baltimore. These would make great half time treats. Go Steelers! Go Giada, you rock!

I must say, this batter is one of the most delicious things I've had, the people at the picnic were lucky I didn't eat it all up before I even baked it. The only thing I will note is that the cake is very dense, and while it is still moist, it's coming close to being an amazing chocolate muffin. One thing to note, if you don't cool the ganache for a while, the topping will be really thin. I think I might try this batter again, but maybe with some sort of icing.
