Although a bit time consuming, the recipe is worth a try. You can watch the video before you get started. The batter makes exactly 24 perfect cupcakes with no extra to throw away. Instead of the hand mixer Giada uses in the video, I used my stand mixer and that worked just as well. The only difference was that I had to bake for about 30 minutes because at 25 minutes the batter was still too gooey. You will really enjoy these cupcakes.

This is soooo easy to make. I loved the attached video. She's right about the chocolate chips not falling to the bottom if you mix them with the flour.

Very delicious and noteworthy - definitely posh enough to serve to your foody friends but I guarantee you, kids will love them. Considering the high sugar content, I suggest locking kids out of doors after you serve them - might help them burn off the energy! :

What a great recipe! I made these and they turned out great! I have to admit that I love super sweet things, so I substituted semisweet chocolate for the unsweetened chocolate, and milk chocolate chips for the semisweet chips. That suited my tastes perfectly. Very moist and wonderful! It's worth the time to make the ganache!

My 12 yr old sis has rather gourmet tastes, so when she chose these cupcakes for me to make for her birthday party i wasn't sure the other kids would like them. THESE WERE AMAZING!!!!!!!!!! She loved them, everyone gobbled them up, and they weren't even that hard to make! I made buttercream frosting instead of the ganache and rolled out fondant for the kids to decorate their own cupcake. They held up wonderfully and looked so cute in my decorative silicone tins! Thanks Giada!

Thanks to you for sharing this recipe. I made these for my hubby and kid as they both love chocolate. But it looks like even I love chocolate. The ganache is out of the world!!! hmmm, mm. mmmh.

I have been disappointed by chocolate cakes before. They have just never met my expectations of flavor, richness, and density. However this cupcake was so perfect. This cupcake pays homage to Ixcacao the chocolate goddess! Any chocolate lover would be missing out if they did not bring this recipe into their personal arsenal of recipes.

I followed the recipe and it came our perfect and the ganache was the shiniest I had ever seen in the midwest. The ganache recipe was the perfect amount to glaze the 24 cupcakes. Giada has yet to let me down. The were yummy last night freshly made (hard to resist temptation to steal a few bites with the smell wafting through my living quarters. They were also perfect this morning after sitting in the fridge the whole night. The flavors were even richer and the cupcake a bit denser. I can't stop raving about the cupcake. I will never have to look for another chocolate cake recipe again!!! The absolute best ever!!! This is what I am all about: find an easy recipe that is divine.

I live at around 6,000 ft. and having issues with these cupcakes because of the altitude. Can anyone, or Food Network, tell me what changes I should make to compensate for this? Thanks!

These cupcakes were a hit! I made them for my boyfriend who shared them with his family and coworkers...I received compliments from both! Even though it was 100% my fault for eating so many, my boyfriend and I had terrible headaches after having 4...maybe 5 cupcakes. There is a lot of sugar and probably the caffeine caused it too....but it didn't stop me from having more:
