I have made this cake without caramel for my husband's birthday - last 3 years. Cake and frosting super delicious. Lemon and chocolate what a great combo! But can one keep this cake in the fridge, and how long? Thank you, Alex, great recipe!

I think this is the worst rendering of a dobosch torte I have ever seen.
It is like seeing a small child trying to copy a Mona Lisa and then try to pass it off as the real thing.
I give this 2 thumbs down.

I've been looking at this recipe for about a year now and just made it for no special reason. The results were fantastic. The cake is wonderful and moist with a great lemon accent and the icing is heaven. I may have poured a little too much caramel on top or not given it a moment to cool before dumping onto the cake as it went everywhere. I also cut into it too soon before allowing the topping to harden which made for a bit of a messy slicing job. That said, the flavor was to die for and I will make again.

This is a very easy dobosch. I make my Mom's which is 12 very thin layers. So this is very good but less work. Love the frosting.

This torte was magnificent! The cake was moist, buttery, and light. And the bittersweet chocolate frosting had just the right sweetness and chocolaty taste. I was an ounce short but the frosting still turned out to be divine.

I was trying to look for a bittersweet frosting recipe. My father-in-law loves yellow cake with bittersweet frosting. So I made a four layered yellow cake bittersweet frosting cake for my father-in-laws birthday dinner. The cake came out awesome. Everyone loved the frosting. It was easy to follow the instructions. Can't wait to make the entire recipe according to Alex.

I made the cake without the frosting or the caramel, just to have a new butter cake. It was absolutely delicious and quick to mix up. Will definitely make again, maybe with the frosting and caramel next time.

Really liked the chocolate frosting in this recipe. Some people complained about this being too labor intensive, didnt really see that on my end. Of course its going to take a little time to frost several layers of cake and construct it, but nothing more than I was expecting. Didnt care for the caramel, it really took away from the cake in my opinion. I think this would be a great chocolate cake and leave it at that.
