Since the beginning of this show, I have been rooting for you Melissa! Food Network would be crazy not to give you a show. I've been a mom for 13 years and can cook, but am always looking for more ideas. While I love some of the other shows on Food Network, I'm looking forward to another mom giving me tips on making quick, easy, delicious, and $$ saving meals for my family. Loved your chicken recipe and ideas! I'm putting your show on permanent record (haven't even done that for Alton, Giada, or Barefoot Contessa & I LOVE them!. Can't wait for your first show & becoming a better cook for my family! CONGRATULATIONS Melissa!!!

You people make me SICK! You people commenting here without ever even making the recipe. I wondered how 9 people could have made the recipe between about 8:30 pm CST last night (Sun night and 1:15 pm Mon afternoon. If you don't make the recipe don't tell us how good it was and all other kinds of personal carp. This is why I'm trying to balance the score a bit here, too.
I was leaning toward Melissa until I saw her mock episode and I couldn't believe how much she and her cooking looked like half the other shows on FN already. We DO NOT NEED another lets-cook-things-quick-and-simple kind of show on FN. I was so impressed by Jeffery's mock episode and that he actually brought something truly NEW and UNIQUE to FN. I think he needed to relax and not try quite so hard by a smidge, but what he brought way, way out weight his momentary tension. I couldn't wait to try his recipe!! But, with Mellissa, I thought, been there and done that about 1,000X already!!!!!!!!!! What a snooze.
I already thought that FN is having the problem of not recognizing the people who have been watching food network for years and have been cooking for a substantial amount of time. They only confirmed that last night to a greater degree.

Kudos to Melissa for winning what seemed like a very tough competition! And thanks to The Food Network for picking someone their viewers can relate to. I liked Jeffrey and thought his concept was new and innovative, but not sure I would have time to find the exotic ingredients. Even my hubby wondered if our local grocery store would have some of his items. I worried that he would win just for the foodie aspect of his concept, but so glad you all chose Melissa! I too was a career woman who worked 60-80 hour weeks until I had my son and I chose to stay home with him. He LOVES The Food Network and cooking and he's only 6! The show Chopped! really got him into cooking. He loves to help me cook. We watched The Next Food Network Star religiously every Sunday night. He picked Melissa to win from the beginning! WE can't wait to try the chicken and the potatoes! Great idea to do the gratin in a muffin pan and let him fill it and great interchangeable chicken recipe. We will be making it this week! Can't wait to watch your show and get more tips and ideas to cook with him!

Congrats, Melissa. Glad you won. My husband and I were hoping you'd win. Like he said, "She deserves it". Jeffrey was great, too, but not that practical. You know what I love about this recipe? I HAVE ALL THE INGREDIENTS! I LOVE that! Thanks, Melissa. I've been searching all day, hoping they'd post this recipe and I was thrilled that I found it. Printing it now and already got the TIVO ready with a season pass for your show. Thanks!

I'm so glad you won Melissa! I liked the other guy, and thought it would be fun to try new ingredients, but THIS is what I'll really make my family for dinner. I have 2 toddlers and not a lot of time to cook (or look for exotic ingredients, and I am going to make both your chicken and the mini potato gratins this week! CONGRATS, you are a survivor! The title of the show is perfect! Thanks Alton!

I am off to Whole Foods right now to gather the rest of my ingredients for this and the muffin potato Au gratin! I can't wait! I am so thrilled Melissa won, I really thought Jefferey had it, and I liked him alot, but Melissa is who I will be setting the DVR for! She is a dream, can you believe how lucky Food Network is to find her? So happy that you are out there supporting us Stay at Home Moms and inspiring us to greatness! Yay!!!!!!! I was a fan from the very first episode, you deserve it!
