I simmered the sauce for about 1-1/2 hours, but think next time I'll make it an all day sauce. Very simple to make, loved that he uses dried spices vs fresh ( I don't buy fresh spices! I doubled the recipe, but instead of using 2-med onions, I only used 1-1/2 (2-1/4" x 3-1/4" diam and it was still too much. As previously posted, in the future I too will increase the sugar. A very good basic starter recipe for your tweaking. Question: I used EVOO, should I have used regular olive oil??

Will never buy store bought again with how easy this was to make. I made just one change and used Mexican Oregano because that was what I had on hand. Delicious!

Added 1/2 teaspoon more sugar and fresh parsley at the end. Delicious and came together quickly.

This is a basic, but excellent recipe for a marinara sauce. I used it in eggplant parmesan and it was fabulous.
I added 1 tablespoon of sugar instead of 1/2 teaspoon because it was too sour/acidy, and then I blended it. After that, it was PERFECT!

This tastes like stewed tomatoes. Followed the recipe to a T. Not marinara sauce.

Great sauce and super easy to make. We used it for Chicken Parmesan. Normally we would use our own homemade sauce or in a pinch jarred sauce. But we had neither. This was speedy to make and tasted great. Didn't take too long, so dinner was on the table in an hour. This recipe means I'll never need to buy sauce in a jar again.

Amazing! At the suggestion of others, I used 2 tsp. Italian seasoning instead of oregano and basil, and added Parmesan cheese and ground beef. Everyone loved it! First time making sauce from scratch and it was super easy.
