this pie is a great find for a foodie like me. its unusual enough and leaves people wondering what gives it its unique flavors-- nuts, dates, and sour cream-- but so simple to make. don't be skeptical about the sour cream layer-- its wonderful! i make this whenever i want to impress.

My husband is Muslim and I wanted to surprise him for Ramadan. Dates are a popular snack in his culture and I remembered this pie in the Food Network Challenge. I will not use the sour cream topping but rather just use cool whip. I can't wait to try it next week!

I was skeptical about this recipe. I thought it would be overly sweet but it has a nice tang from the sour cream (I substituted greek yogurt and some saltiness which balances out the sweetness of the dates. I would make this again at the drop of a hat!

This was my contribution to Thanksgiving dinner. I accidentally bought sugared dates, and it turned out a little richer than I would have liked, but it was still extremely delicious, different, and loved by all.

Loved the crust however, all I tasted was the sour cream layer.

It was delicious and I can see how she won the pie contest.
