I love apple pie and this one was delicious. However, I also made Nick Malgieri's bourbon pecan pie and the pecan pie went much faster at Christmas dinner than this apple pie did. The pie was very caramel-y and good, I recommend it if you are a fan of apple. However, if you have pecan pie lovers, skip this one and make bourbon pecan!

Great recipe. Just remember that if you are at a higher elevation then sea level, you have to compensate with a little extra water in the crust so it comes out right. :

This was my first homemade pie ever and It was awesome. I ended up using frozen crust which was raved about, I think becuase the chocolate covered toffee I put underneith it was hidden, so people thought it was the crust that tasted so awesome. Also, like I said, I used the heath bar crumbles that they have in the baking isle, typically used for cookies. This added such a good depth of flavor to balance out the citrusiness of the apples. I will make this again!

I was truly amazed at how easy this pie was to make. It has to be one of the best pies I have ever had. I have great reviews from everyone who ate it at Thanksgiving, they all wanted the recipe!I am definatly using this one again.

I've never cooked a pie in my life and apple is not my favorite. I spent this holiday with friends and apple pie was the dish that they requested I bring. I've gotta admit, I lingered over those frozen things for more than a moment in the grocery but decided to take the plunge. I made this one in the end and it was a hit! I ended up with a big, fat pie that was mounded full of Granny Smith apples. Thanks so much for saving my life this Turkey Day!

My family loved this pie. It was easy to make, a little time consuming but it turned out beautifully. I used the 2 heath toffee bars as the recipe said. I couldn't really taste the toffee though. Perhaps I'll try the brittle next. I, however, found this pie to be much to sweet for my taste. When I make it again, I will cut down on the amount of sugar for the filling and perhaps not sugar the top of the crust. I have never precooked apples before but I will definitely do it for any apple pie recipes-very neat.
