Good overall recipe. I ran out of eggs and had to use an egg substitute; it turned out fine. There was a lot of leftover frosting and ganache, but I used a different recipe for the buttercream. The cupcakes themselves were absolutely delicious, and were very easy to make. I didn't use any flavorings for the buttercream, but it turned out well anyways.

Light and airy, these cupcakes were delicious. I did not want to make 36 cupcakes, that is a lot to decorate! So I added a little more of the batter to the muffin tins and still baked just for 20 minutes and they turned out perfectly and were not oversized, just right. I used an orange cream cheese frosting instead of the ganache because I love chocolate and orange together. Used real orange juice and zest for the frosting with sprinkled the top with clear crystals and a silver ball. You can see them on my blog, I made them to celebrate its first birthday. ~ suziethefoodie

These cupcakes were so light, fluffy and delicious! They are not that much more work than a cake mix and the results are amazing. The buttermilk makes them so moist, and the cake flour makes them light. We had a late night cupcake craving and we had them mixed and out of the oven in 35 minutes. Because it was late, I made twelve cupcakes and baked the rest in mini-loaf pans. I baked the mini loaf pan for about 35 minutes and it turned out great!!!

I figured since no one else has done a review using the lavender I would chime in. If you have not tried it... TRY IT! It was one of the best cupcakes I have ever had in my life. I was not sure about the "flowery" taste it may have but that was not the case. If you can get your hands on Lavender extract please try this recipe as it is! You will not be disapointed.

I am a novice at chocolate cake but not to baking. I made the cake but not the icings, used different recipe for icings. The cake was most fragrant and perfectly chocolate. I enjoyed adding the moist chocolate at the end, I think it made a difference in keeping the lightness of the cake. I loved this recipe and will keep it to make again soon!

I am not sure what I did wrong, but my butter cream turned out like an old cottage cheese like. Yes, I did follow the recipe pretty carefully.

I did like these cupcakes. They are very tasty. The batter makes a very light and delicate cupcake. It is not dense. The ganache is the way to go since I think a frosting would be too heavy for these cupcakes. I would not make these for a kids party. It is more an "adult' style cupcake. I would also next time make 1/2 the amount of ganache since I have a lot left. Mine came out thin so I had to dip the cupcakes and let them drip off before letting them set. I think this is how it is supposed to be. I would of like the ganache a bit thicker but I am not sure how to do that - maybe less milk. I will make them again for a dinner party or something like that. I did not make the butter cream, that would of made these cupcakes very rich I think which for me would be good but for my husband I do not think he would of liked that.

These were amazing. A chocolate lovers dream. I skipped the violet buttercream part and just made the cupcake and ganache (topped with a fresh strawberry and they were divine. Super moist and rich. Will definitely make again.

These cupcakes were just lovely. I would have liked for the actual cake part to have been just a bit more rich, but I suppose adding a darker cocoa powder or a larger amount could accomplish that.
I did not make the buttercream; just the cupcakes and ganache, which complemented each other nicely. Not too sweet, not too chocolatey - 98% perfect!
I added some garnish (just some colored dusting sugar in a little dot in the center of the cupcake - red in this case which brought the appearance of these beauties to another level. The cupcakes were definitely a hit; I highly recommend them!
Thanks for a fabulous recipe!!
