This chili had good flavor, but unlike the photo accompanying the recipe, there was very little gravy/sauce/liquid. For me, chili should be like stew - meat and vegetables in a nice, thick liquid. This dish was amost entirelymeat and beans. If I try it again, I will use at least twice as much tomato, and maybe the juice from the canned beans as well, then let it simmer.

Maybe that's the problem - more liquid simmered longer to thicken. But then, you couldn't make it in 30 minutes.

I skipped the salt and used crushed tomatoes (not into the finger thing. I added a can of corn, a can of black beans, and a can of red kidney beans.. it was amazing. I LOVE the chipotle flavor and I've made it twice now with two different beers and it was great. Very healthy and hearty meal that can be adjusted to your taste when it comes to the amout of heat. My family LOVES it.

I followed the directions except for vering off 1 ingredient. I chose a belgium lager instead. I wasn't going buy buy a six pack of beer that I will never drink so I purchased a single at the convenient store. Maybe I didn't like the turkey chili because I don't usually eat ground turkey. I was expecting to taste more of the beer. I would never make this recipe again. Sorry. I tried it though.

Me and my husband loved this recipe. I followed it exact and did not think it was too salty at all. Yummy and easy.

This recipe is so simple, and always a hit with my family! I double it every time, and add a little extra hot spices, and a dark stout beer. Delicous..

After reading several reviews......apparently the issue was the salt. Not sure whether was 1 tbls or 1 tsp. This is what I did to twikkkkk it. I used 3 grated garlic w hand/grater did not use salt, instead I used goya adobo to taste, a little at a time **everyone, please taste your recipes along the cooking progress". did not use the chili powder instead I added a McKormic Chili Pack, did not have paste so I used 1/2 can tom. sauce, I omitted the chipolte pepper (I was unsure how spicy it may be, I used a 15oz can of diced tomato(same thing less work and a can of small red beans (you really can use any bean you like, just wash & drain. I also added to the beginning of the recipe along with the onions red & green peppers. The lager beer I just bought an American lager (all the store had and added about 12oz. It turned out pretty good. It has a tiny kick but not enough to be considered even mild. For the toppings I used shredded cheese, cilantro, sour cream & jalapeno peppers for whomever wanted spicy. I served white rice and nacho chips. Overall not sure I created a new recipe or I just tweek it. Anyway, it turned out wonderful, everyone added the spice they wanted. Next time I'll make spicy just for me. It was YUMMOOOOOO.

A bit salty. the oregano really sets it off. I've never used beer in chili, but it all turned out great. I'll try it again with less salt and Chipoltes. I had to use a chipolte hot sauce.

I made a few minor changes to keep this as flavorful & calorie-friendly as possible: Used 99% fat free ground turkey, reduced oil to 1 T, and added 1 diced green pepper & 1/2 pound of frozen, sliced okra to bulk it up. Also used white beans & black-eyed peas instead of red (lower calories and added a big can of diced tomatoes. Made a HUGE pot (adjusted seasonings accordingly of veggie-rich chili... also got my husband who "wouldn't eat okra" to admit you can't even taste it. Great way to sneak in some extra veggies! Zucchini would work well, too.
I found the salt to be just fine, though my recipe yielded at least double the original version- I used just the 1 TBS., so it may indeed need to be reduced if you follow to a T.
This is a chili that doesn't have to cook all day for the flavors to develop, it's awesome right out of the gate but we're looking forward to the leftovers, too. Very highly recommended!

I love salty foods, but this is crazy salty. I did use the recommended kosher salt & it did not make a difference. I feel the need to drink a gallon of water after eating this chili.
