I added some finely chopped capers to the dressing, and a squirt of dijon. Maybe my Coleman's was old, but couldn't get any mustard flavor. I have also used half Miracle Whip to this type of salad, and you can skip the sugar. After the salad was made, I added some kosher salt and a ton of freshly ground white pepper. I didn't add my usual corn because we were having it on the cob for Memorial Day BBQ.

I thought this was wonderful and so did my guests. they gobbled it up. It is light and refreshing and delicious. I doubled the dressing as others had suggested and it was perfect. I used diced cucumber instead of celery just because my family is not a fan. Other than that I didn't change a thing. I wanted a light salad and that is what this is. If a heavier salad is what you want, pick a different recipe.

I thought this salad was very good. It is a simple salad, did not find it bland. I did add boiled eggs and next time would probably double the dressing as it was dry after it sat.

I did this recipe paired with hamburgers & sweet potato fries. The salad wasn't what I expected... it was quite boring to my taste buds. Though on the up side it was fresh & light. I guess I just prefer the more heavy mac salads with a lot of mayo & mustard.

When making this I would add a can of White Tuna packed in water, drained of course and a cup of tiny shrimp, now that to my family is the classic American Macaroni Salad

This was delicious! Nice that it didn't require chopping of multiple ingredients. It went together fast. I agree with other cooks, I doubled the dressing, because after it sat a while it soaked up. After adding more dressing it was perfect even two days later! I think the apple cider vinegar kept the tomatoes good, I was surprised. I will add a little less cider vinegar next time though, it was a little too much, but otherwise this was a winner, my son loves pasta salads and almost single-handedly gobbled it up!

I just want to help,,,,,,,, when making potato or macaroni salad use 1/2 miracle whip,,,and 1/2 mayonnaise. No more bland!!! Forget the sugar, vinegar and sour cream!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is a classic good macaroni salad. To the extent other reviewers say it's bland, it's very simple -- it isn't going to hit you over the head with flavor(s, yet, I did not think it was bland. Overall, I think it's a crowd pleaser considering all the macaroni salad variations there are out there. This one keeps it simple. I would make it again, husband loved it, he never takes seconds and took seconds on this one. I may be a tad more generous with the cider vinegar next time to give it a little more bite, however. Best thing about this recipe to me is that you can taste the freshness, and, you know the ingredients that went into the dressing. Such a difference between homemade and store bought dressings.
