They were a big hit, but I couldn't get the sauce to thicken either. Maybe Food Network should take a look at the recipe? Will make them again, but will follow other's advice and thicken with cornstarch so much sauce doesn't boil away.

These were wonderful! The sauce never thickened so I did have to add a little cornstarch to help it along, but other than that it was fabulous! Wil definately make again!

I found the recipe in the Food Network magazine and was attracted by the picture. Unfortunately, my sauce barely thickened. The chicken was tasty but wished I had the sauce with the syrupy consistency shown in the photo.

I didn't have a problem with my sauce thickening, but found that the lemon zest, soy and vinegar gave it too much tartness. We were disappointed with this.

I had really high hopes for this recipe but unfortunately the sauce never thickened. We ended up slathering our drumsticks with BBQ sauce instead. :(

I also couldn't get the sauce to thicken, but it make for a nice glaze for the chicken.

Total home run. Saw this recipe in the newest issue of Food Network Magazine and had to try. Glad I came here 1st to read about some of you having trouble getting the sauce to thicken. The sauce is similar to the sauce of Aaron McCargo's cider glazed salmon so I added 3 tablespoons of brown sugar and added the butter at the very end while the sauce was still hot and it thickened up perfectly. Yes, it was sweet but with the heavily seasoned chicken it was the perfect sweet.

I'm so upset with this recipe. When I read the recipe in Food Network Magazine, my mouth immediately to water and I was excited to try the dish for myself. I made it tonight and I could not be more disappointed.
The sauce never thickened. Like so many others here, I tried for over an hour to get the sauce to thicken. I was out of cornstarch, so I decided I'd try to make it into a barbeque sauce instead. That didn't work either. I gave up and completely ditched the sauce all together, because, frankly, it was too vinegary for my tastes anyway. I tried adding additional honey to sweeten, but had no luck. My daughter and I both tried for a while to sweeten it, but both of us agreed it was too strong to even bother saving.

Am I the only one that did NOT have trouble getting the sauce to thicken?? It turned out perfectly and tastes AMAZING!

This was a fabulous family and budget friendly recipe! Sadly, there are issues with the thickening of the sauce...it doesn't thicken. I cooked it for an hour and twenty minutes! But, the flavor is tangy and fresh and definitly worth trying again. I will add cornstarch next time - don't know why I didn't think of it this time! Also, I agree with a previous review, you need to GENEROUSLY salt and pepper the drumsticks!
