This was delicious! I've been looking for a simple/fairly quick baked ziti recipe and this nailed it! I used Ree Drummond's marinara recipe (which I tweeked just a bit by adding crushed red pepper & a bit more than a "pinch of sugar"...
We're not big meat eaters so we left his one plain. I wouldn't change a thing! Yummy!

After searching high and low for a dish to serve at a Christmas party I was hosting I settled on this one. I cooked enough for 20+ people and it was a HUGE hit! I even had one person ask me what restaurant I had ordered it from. ; I made one pan without meat, but the rest I added 1 lb. of Italian sausage for each lb. of pasta. Since then it's become a huge hit and I get requests for it on a regular basis. I spent 2 days in the kitchen preparing for such a large party, but when making it as the recipe is written, it's simple, quick and very impressive. Served with a fresh green salad, garlic bread and a glass of red wine, it's a hit every time!

Delicious! Slightly puréed sauce and also added some shallot. Everything else I did the same as the recipe. Best marinara sauce I have ever made. It was a big hit! Thank you Food Network.

Delicious! Just the right amount of spice, very tasty! It only took about 25 minutes in the oven, and I served it with some italian sausage on the side. Next time I would probably double the marinara recipe as I would have liked a tad bit more sauce, and then some for the sausage would be great. Was a hit with my non-red sauce loving SO also! Will definitely make again.

JUST LOVED THIS SIMPLE RECIPE. I MADE MY OWN FAVORITE SAUCE AND THEN FOLLOWED THE RECIPE FOR THE ZITI AS STATED. I MADE IT IN THE MORNING AND COVERED IT AND THEN BROUGHT IT OUT AND BAKED IT IN THE AFTERNOON.LEFT THE COVER ON IT AND BAKED IT FOR ABOUT 20-30 MINUTES SINCE MY COMPANY WAS LATE. IT WAS JUST THE BEST WE EVER HAD. I DID ADD QUITE A BIT OF COOKED GROUND BEEF TO THE SAUCE WHICH MADE IT RICHER. WE SERVED IT WITH MEATBALLS AND SAUSAGE ON THE SIDE AND WITH A SALAD WAS A COMPLETE MEAL AND VERY FILING. SINCE I MADE THIS FOR A HOLIDAY MEAL, I FOUND IT SO MUCH EASIER THAN COOKING MEAT AND SLICING IT AND HAVING TO MASH POTATOES AND GET VEGGIES ON THE TABLE ALL AT ONCE. THIS WAS JUST SO MUCH EASIER AND LESS NERVE WRECKING ON ME AND FOR THAT REASON I THINK THIS MIGHT BE OUR XMAS DINNER FROM NOW ON. IT WAS SO EASY AND THE SAUCE AND MEATBALLS CAN BE ALL MADE THE DAY BEFORE AND THEN JUST ADDED TO THE COOKED ZITI ON THE DAY YOU NEED IT. COULDN'T BE EASIER OR BETTER!!!!

Ziti was a Christmas Eve tradition when I was growing up and I wanted to carry it on to my family. I made this recipe for the first time today (Christmas Eve and it was so good and so easy! I actually bought marinara from a local Italian market (it was their homemade sauce and it was delicious. I made it in the AM and baked it tonight. Served with fresh bread and a salad - perfect! I will definitely be making it again! It was a big hit with everyone!

I've made this recipe many many times. And making it again tonight! It's my go to for when I want to please a crowd. I love it, friends love it and its easy to do.. and it's even easier if you substitiute the sauce of two jars of store bought sauce. One thing that I like to add to spice it up is a pound of hot italian sausage, for my family the sausage completes it!

I followed this recipe precisely and was terribly disappointed! Definitely double or triple the sauce recipe, because 3-1/2 cups of sauce is not nearly enough sauce for a pound of pasta!
