I've been cooking for years and just thought I'd try the sauce recipe - and make the ziti....The sauce should be doubled - if followed exactly it's very dry. Also - use aged mozarella and not fresh - fresh doesn't work for this recipe.

My whole family loves this recipe! I change a few things around...we typically use a chicken sausage ( basil or sun dried tomato, and crushed tomatoes with puree. I have also used buffalo mozzarella, which is really delicious. Try this recipe, you won't be disappointed!

Easy to make; I used jar tomato sauce, instead of homemade - it was good.

I thought this dish had great potential, but it was a little dry. I added a white sauce to the mix and it was fantastic! The white sauce turned it into the flavor I remember eating out at good Italian restaurants.

This is an excellent recipe. I made a couple of modifications. I used half mild and hot sausage. I also could not find the whole tomatoes in puree, so I used the 28oz can of whole tomatoes and one 6oz can of tomato paste. It was perfect not dry, not too wet. If my 3yr old eats it...it's a winner!

The sauce is a bit of work and well-worth it, but not complicated. This is now my family's all-time favorite dish for me to make. We like making it for company too. We do use 1/2 mild and 1/2 hot sausage, to keep the flavor interesting but manage the heat.

My husband and I loved this recipe. He was skeptical about sausage in the sauce, but was quickly won over once he tasted the final product. I would definitely use all of the tomato sauce and not just 3 1/2 cups. I replaced half of the mozzarella with ricotta cheese.
