It is a great idea. It works best with fresh jelly beans...Jelly Belly brand are too small....Perhaps Dots brand Jelly candies would be a nice and colorful alternative if you cant find frsh jelly beans...

Love this Idea! For the ever present portion control, especially on a long Awards Night or Sports Day.So much food, then too much.Appetisers are perfection and "mini" bites. Great for children.Especially Holidays that put Candy in foreground.New flavours of Jelly Beans, Coconut Marshmallows.Bite of Ganache Froasted Cake,Yum!

I agree with other reviews. It seems obvious that the jelly beans would crack & be messy. Maybe using something softer like gummy bears would work better. That might be cute for a baby shower.

Didn't try this but read the comments and looking at the picture enlarged. It looks like they are not threaded ,but attached in some way.Hot glue would be my guess. Good luck to all that try this idea.

I have tried this also, and the jelly beans broke, cracked, and left such a gooey mess on the skewer that it would have been unsightly to present. I first saw this in TVFN Magazine, and when I wrote to them, received an automated response. Then I wrote to the Website, and got the same ("thank you for your comments" automated response. In desperation, I actually dashed a quick email off to the photographer who took the picture, and again, no response. I tried different types of jelly beans, and two sizes of skewers, all with the same results. Wouldn't it be nice if someone from The Food Network would solve this mystery?

I bought all the supplies and was going to make these for my daughter's 9th party...Like melanie I can't get the jelly beans on the sticks without breaking or creating a huge sticky mess on the stick...I've successfully threaded TWO jelly beans!

    Help!

So Im having a bridal shower and my mom saw this recipe and thought it would be cute as centerpieces for the tables. Yea the pic is very cute but this was a pain to do and ours look nothing like this. It was quite funny while working on this project, but there was no way to push the jellybean on without them cracking and the stick get super sticky. I dont know how whoever did this for the magazine did it but it was definitely not easy.
