If you are looking for a typical Beef Stroganoff recipe...well this is not the recipe for you. However, if you are interested in making a delicious Beef Stroganoff, rich in flavor and unlike your mother's basic faire, then this is a winner. I would keep to the recipe, but if using a stone ground mustard, 1 tbs is enough. I enjoyed the tang of the lemon and thought the tomato paste was an added plus.
This recipe would be perfect to serve your guests. It would pleasantly surprise them as well as laud acolades galore.

This is can be a really good recipe for stroganoff if you leave out the dijon, tomato paste and lemon. The sauce was great before I reluctantly added those. I only added a squeeze of lemon, the 2 tsp of dijon and a little paste. It still came out pungent. I should have cut back on the dijon as well. I like this FNK recipe because the cooking order is great for browning everything! and it uses real food (not junk from a can like some others and it doesn't add too many fluff spices (again like many others. It is simple and the cooking instructions are Right On! If I would have left out the other stuff it would have been spectacular (it was very savory & flavorful b4 I added it....
Oh and I cut back on the amount of butter too. This calls for way too much butter for me. I, also, doubled-up the recipe easily to have a good amount of left-overs. Try it; it is a good recipe, but leave out the Dijon/Lemon/Tomato Paste - without those, it is 5 plus stars.

I followed the recipe exactly. the end result is a thich sauce that is way too acidic. Just give it a miss. Wish there was a star rating for worse than awful.

Lose the tomato paste for sure, I did not add lemon either. The tomato paste made it to tangy. Also would have increased the flour by a tablespoon to thicken, not corn starch.

My teenage boys like this recipe - so did my very picky husband. I used the ingredients exactly as listed, but the sauce came out too thin just as other reviewers have noted. I fixed that with a lot of cornstarch. Will make it again.

I had high hopes for this recipe. My husband and I are both good and adventurous cooks, so I admit our standards are high.
The sauce was too thin and neither my husband nor I was keen on the flavor. It certainly does not taste like a traditional stroganoff.

This recipe was super easy and reminded me of my Mom's stroganoff.

My family loved this. I used ground beef instead of strips. I really liked that I could do it all in one skillet. It was almost as easy as boxed hamburger helper, and tasted about a million times better!
